The Technology Campus Teisnach, part of the Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences, is distinguished by its application-oriented research. Key focus areas include process, manufacturing, and measurement technology in the field of optical technologies as well as high-frequency technology.
The entrance area of the Optics Center serves as a central meeting point where users of the building can engage in spontaneous conversations that may lead to discussions and eventually the development of new theories and solutions. To support this, a stool landscape was designed and implemented as a „modular sofa“ to facilitate spontaneous gatherings.
The solid wood stools are ideal in form, being less formal than chairs but not as comfortable as sofas, thus occupying an „in-between“ state that allows for flexibility. The leather stools are printed with the various wavelengths of the visible light spectrum. These wavelengths continue seamlessly on each side of the stools, looping back to the beginning on the fourth side. The shape of the stools reflects the building‘s cubature, while the colors red and white reference the main colors of the building.
