The work ACHTUNG STAATS GRENZE unites various aspects of the border region. The stripes in red and yellow-green, in addition to referring to the Austrian flag, also allude to the wine production in the region. The proximity to the border, which for a long time represented an impassable barrier to the Eastern Bloc, is made clearly visible by lines running across the image like barbed wire, as well as by the inscription, which gives the warning ATTENTION STATE BORDER with a crosshair. The portrayal of the border as a permeable yet present barrier points to the complex political and social dynamics associated with border regions, prompting reflection on topics such as identity, migration, and cooperation.

With geographical boundaries, which often run parallel to cultural boundaries, we refer to national, city, and village borders. Within these geographic spaces, but also extending beyond them, we are confronted with social, linguistic, and ethical boundaries. Through the interpenetration and overlap of geographical and societal boundaries, we can recognize the broad spectrum of the concept of BOUNDARY. (Text on the work by Klaus-Dieter Hartl)
